Narooma has some of the clearest, bluest waters in Australia.  An absolute highlight of the whole of the south coast region is heritage listed Montague Island.  Also known as Barrunguba, the Island is part of a special Yuin creation story and is connected by songlines to Gulaga and Najunuga which can be seen from the ocean around it.   Just nine kilometres offshore from Narooma, visitors can book a charter boat and explore the island’s lighthouse history, its Aboriginal heritage and its remarkable plants and wildlife as well as explore the island’s unique landscape. The sea around the Island provides some of the best water activities such as fishing, diving, snorkelling, and whale watching during the months of June/July and September / October.  Narooma has five charter boat businesses that specialise in different adventures from deep sea fishing, whale watching, diving and an experience of a lifetime, snorkelling with the seals.
